Community Health Fairs

The Office of Community Relations, Outreach and Service supports a variety of community health fairs and free medical screenings.   

In 2009, the Office of Community Relations participated in the following events. If you would like to have the UVA Health System represented at your event, please contact Maria Synan (mvsynan@virginia.edu)

2009 Health Fairs 

The Boys and Girls Club Health and Fitness Fair took place Saturday, July 11, 2009.  Hundreds of community members attended the event.  Services included growth screenings, blood pressure screenings, scoliosis screenings, sports physicals, Medicaid support, family advocacy programs, first aid education, poison safety, teen health, children's dental education, and vision screenings.

The Nelson County Health Fair took place on Thursday July 9, 2009.  Services included skin cancer screenings, diabetes education, safety and wellness, poison prevention, Legs for Life peripheral artery screening, and health education. 

The Westhaven Community Days is a community-wide fair that was held on August 1, 2009.  Over 50 community organizations were represented.  Fair attendees played HEATline safety games provided by the UVA Health System Community Relations, Outreach, and Service.
