Work Hour Regulations

In accordance with the ACGME mandate that was instituted on July 1, 2003, the University of Virginia Orthopaedic Surgery Residents work no more than 80 hours per week averaged over a four week period.  The hours are tracked via an internet computer program and is reivewed by the department's program directors.

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery has been compliant with the 80-hour work week and have not felt the need to request the need for another resident or an additional hour extension.
