Your orthopaedic surgeon has recommended a total knee replacement for you, based on your medical history, walking, knee motion and joint condition. The orthopaedic surgeon may want to replace some or the entire knee joint with materials made from plastic and metal. The femoral condylar prosthesis covers your thighbones, the tibial prosthesis covers the top of your shinbone, and patellar prosthesis covers the underside of your kneecap.
The surgeon will use the best prosthesis, either cement or cementless for you.
