Orthopaedic Trauma DivisionThe Orthopaedic Trauma Division at the University of Virginia Medical Center provides services for the most complex orthopaedic injuries throughout the region. We treat all types of fractures and associated soft tissue injuries, including the most difficult fractures such as pelvic and acetabular (hip socket) fractures, as well as fractures involving joints. We also treat nonunion (failure to heal) and malunion fractures (healed incorrectly), and fractures with infection. Most importantly, we develop and use the most advanced technologies in our patient care, including Computer Aided Surgery (CAS) and Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS). The missions of the trauma division include: Providing the highest quality of care for injured patients; developing internationally recognized research programs that will guide future treatment of injured patients; and providing high quality medical education to medical students, residents, fellows, and the public to facilitate injury prevention and treatment. Our patients' needs and satisfaction are our top priorities. |
