Hip replacement
Your hip replacement will have the same parts as your hip. A ball, usually metal, will replace the worn head of your thighbone. A cup, usually plastic, replaces your hip socket.
Your new joint will glide smoothly and within a few days after surgery you will notice you have less pain in your hip. The pain should decrease every day. However, your new hip will have limited motion and you will need to take special care of it after surgery. Your health care team will assist you in learning how to take care of your new hip.
