What to expect at your follow-up appointments in the Orthopaedic Clinic

2 weeks after discharge

The Orthopaedic surgeon will examine your hip and remove the stitches. If you live a long distance from the University, the Orthopaedic surgeon may have you go back to your referring physician to have the stitches removed, or have a local home health agency come to your home. This 2-week follow-up appointment will be made before you leave the hospital.

6 weeks after discharge

This will be a follow-up appointment to see how well you are doing.

3 months after discharge

This will be a follow-up appointment to see how well you are doing.

6 months after discharge

This is a follow-up appointment to see how you are progressing.

1 year after discharge

The Orthopaedic surgeon will see how you are progressing and get x-rays of your hip.

You will then have yearly follow-up appointments.
