Bradford C. Bennett, PhD

Bradford C. Bennett, Ph.D., is Research Director of the Motion Analysis and Motor Performance Laboratory and Assistant Professor of Research in the Department of Orthopaedic  Surgery.  He received his doctorate  in Mechanical  Engineering  from the High Temperature Gasdynamics Laboratory at Stanford University.  After several  years  of aerospace research in computational fluid  dynamics at NASA Ames Research Center  Dr. Bennett  became  interested in the study of human movement.   In  1995 he became a Lecturer at San Francisco State University in  the Department of Kinesiology teaching biomechanics and motor behavior.  He has a courtesy appointment in the Department of Mechanical  and  Aerospace  Engineering and regularly teaches course for them.

Research Description:

Prof. Bennett is working on the development of advanced walking aids for children with cerebral palsy and others with walking disabilities, as well as increasing our understanding of the fundamental components of walking. He applies an interdisciplinary approach to this research working with faculty in both engineering and medicine. He currently is researching a powered walker and a powered exoskeleton for individuals with walking disabilities.
