Prosthetics and Orthotics Clinical Services
The University of Virginia Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics is a full-service prosthetic and orthotic service providing citizens of Virginia and the Southeast with complete and personal care.

UVA P&O provides a wide range of prosthetic and orthotic technical services.

The prosthetic services include:

  • conventional prostheses
  • endoskeletal and modular prostheses
  • myoelectrically controlled upper-extremity prostheses

Orthotic services focus on orthoses for trauma, congenital problems, and reconstruction following disease and include:

  • upper-extremity orthotic services
  • spinal orthotic services

lower-extremity orthotic services

Dr. Shepard Hurwitz serves as the Medical Director and Mr. Don. E. Payne, CPO, provides the P&O Division's technical direction.
