Credentialing of Orthopaedic Residents

This process is an ongoing one, designed to help residents achieve the goals and objectives of the orthopaedic surgery residency and to become well-trained Orthopaedic practitioners. A graduated level of technical skill will be demonstrated to the Orthopaedic faculty as well as surgical judgement, planning pre and postoperative care, diagnostic patient skills, information gathering and orthopaedic problem solving. A resident completing the program should have reached the level of skill required for certification as an attending level orthopaedist. These credentials will be maintained by the department chair throughout the training years and will be available upon request to an outside health care facility to help in the credentialing of the graduate orthopaedist.
