UVa Spine Center

Virginia's center for comprehensive spine care is lead by an interdisciplinary team of orthopaedic surgeons, neurosurgeons and physiatrists who provide complete care, day or night.  Timely treatment of patients with acute spine problems is critical.  The UVa Spine Center team provides the expertise and experience to evaluate and treat every condition from acute spinal injury to persistent chronic back pain.  Whenever possible, the spine center team works with referring physicians to coordinate therapy and care in the patient's own community.

The spine center team can respond to any emergency resulting from injuries to the spine, including vertebral fractures and injuries to the spinal cord.  In addition, the center is equipped for emergency surgical spine procedures since UVa is a Level 1 trauma center and critical care transport is available through Pegasus - UVa's hospital-based air transport service for critically injured patients.

For a consultation or patient appointment, call (434) 924-DOCS (3627).  Physicians can call Medical Information and Referral Service (MIRS) toll free at 1-800-552-3723.  Patients can also call toll free if they call 1-800-251-3627.
