Week 24-28

Regional physician director and program coordinator make initial written contact with leaders at  local institutions to introduce the program in target area.

Regional staff make follow-up phone calls, collate response forms and develop a roster of participants.

Physician director and program coordinator conduct an Opening Meeting at central site in target area, to describe  program events, demonstrate use of the self-instructional materials, discuss CEUs, provide books and AV materials, and answer questions.  Coordinator's Meeting to train local coordinators usually follows Opening Meeting and is run by Regional program coordinator.

Participants work through the self-instructional materials at their own pace. Local coordinators facilitate the use of loaned videos and collect tests as they are completed.
NOTE: Time needed to complete this step depends upon the needs and preferences of the participants.

Regional coordinator and program director hold a Final Meeting to collect tests, receive feedback. Also may provide an educational offering at this meeting: hold a skill session or an additional speaker or video.
