Encourage all speakers to use a mike; it is very difficult to hear in the back of the auditorium with the noise from the lobby.
- Neck mike on podium.
There is a mike velcroed to the lectern. Please return it there when you are through with it. Speakers try to put it on over their heads and it won't fit. The ribbon snaps out of the clip so it can be put on easily.
- Wireless mike in drawer below the lectern.
Use it when there is a second speaker, guest, or patient. It eats batteries. Extra batteries are in the drawer. It will squeal with feedback if the battery is low. When you turn it on, there is a momentary flash of a red light, but no other signal that it is on. It is easy for the speaker to forget to take it off. Make sure it is turned off and replaced in the drawer.
- Additional mikes
There are three other wired microphones located in the drawer. These microphones get plugged into the audio control panel below the lectern. There are connections that are labeled Mic 1, Mic 2, and Mic 3 that they would be plugged into. (If you need assistance with these mikes, call John Gwynn at 924-8634. If John Gwynn is unavailable call Clinical Engineering at 924-5296 or 924-1254.)
- Volume
The sound level for the mikes is preset and cannot be adjusted.
What could go wrong?
The microphones are not working. In order for the mikes to work, the system must be powered on. Make sure that it is by selecting the System Power menu option. Press the All Equipment On button. This will power on the audio, the VCR, and the cassette player. Now the microphones should work.
