- If you are using your own laptop computer,
- Make sure that you have connected the video and audio output of it to the Laptop Computer ports . These are accessible near the monitor on the work surface of the lectern.
- If you have an ethernet card and want an ethernet connection there is a 10BaseT connection (RJ45 connector) available with the video and audio cables.
- There is a power strip located on the bottom left shelf of the lectern to plug in your laptop's power supply.
- Choose the Select Video/Computer option from the menu. (If you cannot get to the selection options, the system was not powered up. Please see Power Up the System in the Morning for more information.)
- Make sure that the computer you plan on selecting is powered on before choosing it as a video source.
- The power button for the PC is located on the front of the computer below the floppy disk drive.
- The power button for the Macintosh is also located on the front of the computer, but is below the CD-ROM drive.
- Press the appropriate computer source: Windows Computer, Mac Computer, or Laptop Computer. (The lighting is adjusted and the video projector is automatically powered and lowered when you select this.)
- For the two computers secured in the lectern, you can adjust the volume coming from the computer by using the Volume controls found next to the Computer Sources on the touch panel control screen.
- When you are done projecting the computer source:
- If you are using a laptop, disconnect it from the external computer inputs. Unplug your computer from the network port (if used) and the power outlet..
- If you will be using another visual resource, proceed to it. Otherwise raise the video projector by selecting the Video Proj menu option, press the Raise Video Projector button, and press the Standby button. Then select the Lights & Blackboards menu option and press the All On lighting presets button.
What can go wrong?
The video projector displays a blank screen and indicates that there is no video source. This will happen if the video projector can not detect the computer video. This will happen if the computer video source is selected before powering on the computer OR if the computer has not initialized it's video resolution. If the computer is already powered on, try selecting the video computer source again.
Turning Off The Computers
When you are done using a computer for the day, you should power it down. The correct way to power down each computer is:
- For the Windows 2000 computer, select Start from the task bar, then Shut Down. Click on Shut down the computer and select Yes. The computer will automatically power itself off.
- For the Macintosh, choose the Apple menu and choose Shut Down. The computer will automatically power itself off.
