"Investing in the health and well-being of employees has proven to provide both subtle and measurable difference."

UVA-WorkMed is a comprehensive occupational health and wellness specialty clinic, dedicated to improving the well-being, productivity and morale among our clients' employees.

Our purpose is to assist employers in maximizing the investment they have made in their employees through proper screening, follow-up care, health and wellness programs, and appropriate medical management.

Under the best of circumstances, creating a profitable business is a challenging proposition.  Many companies experience significant financial loss due to rising healthcare premiums.  Without proper resources, an organization's greatest asset, its people, can become its greatest financial liability.

UVA-WorkMed provides physician directed services, benefiting both the employee and the employer.  Among the services we offer are immunizations, drug and alcohol screening, tuberculosis screening, pre-hire/ annual physicals (including OSHA surveillance and evaluation), animal research/ exposure surveillance, blood/ body fluid exposure management, medical management of worksite injury, environmental/ infectious disease exposure treatment,  independent medical evaluations, and fitness for duty assessments.  Additionally, our Wellness programs are designed to improve the risk factors contributing to illness and injury through preventative education and health screenings.

The UVA-WorkMed clinical team is experienced in the medical management of worker's compensation cases, expediting access to UVa specialists from injury onset to completion of treatment, facilitating the employee's return to work.

UVA-WorkMed Medical Director, Dr. David Rubendall, DO, is certified as a Medical Review Officer and is a faculty member of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Virginia.  Dr. Rubendall is a specialist in the medical management of worker's compensation cases.  Many companies in central Virginia have added Dr. Rubendall to their panel of physicians to contact when dealing with a worksite injury.
