DEPARTMENT OF OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY
MEDICAL STUDENT CLERKSHIP ORIENTATION
ROTATIONS: 1 Week Each:
-OB Days
-OB/GYN Night Float
-GYN Surgery
-Outpatient Clinics
L&D: Please check in with Chief Resident: Dr. Becky Stone, PIC 3163
There is no call on Ob Days week.
BENIGN GYN: Please check in with Chief Resident: Dr. Cara Heuser, PIC 3145
No specific call. You will be expected to stay until
your Gyn team is done with the O.R., rounds, and
admissions.
CLINIC: Yvonne Newberry, FNP is the contact person for the clinic.
There is no call on Clinic week.
CALL ROOM: Available on L&D

LECTURES: Given by Attendings daily in 8th Floor Classroom or the Finnerty Conference Room in the PCC at 4:00 PM and periodically between 5-6 pm. Check enclosed schedule and follow Super-Memo weekly for updates.
ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY
and will be a part of your final grade. You must attend post-call. You must sign in for attendance and complete the evaluation of the lecture for credit.
CONFERENCES: Every Wednesday from 7:00AM-11:00PM

DRESS: Professional appearance at all times.
You must wear a white coat and ID badge at all times.
Scrubs acceptable for L&D.
Dress clothes at all other times unless otherwise instructed.
STUDENT WORK Restricted to no more than 80 hours of work in one week -HOURS: (Averaged over 4 weeks). Students must have off at least 10 hours in between shifts and no more than 24 hours of consecutive new patient care in a row. Students follow the same rules as for Housestaff.
TIME CARDS: Students must keep track of hours worked and turn in time cards weekly to Ms. Lull.

PASSPORTS: Mandatory completion. Must be handed in at exam.
Final grade will not be released until passport is signed and returned.
FINAL GRADES: 45% Clinical (OASIS Evaluations by residents & attendings)
25% Exam (<59 equals failure of exam and therefore the course)
10% OSCE
10% H & P Write-up - 1 OB patient and 1 GYN patient
10% Attendance and Case Presentation
OSCE: At the end of the clerkship each student will be expected to complete an Observed Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE) as part of their grade. The exam will have Six 8-minute stations to complete. Some stations may be interactive in nature. The exam will be administered between 1:00 - 5:00 pm the afternoon after your written examination. You will be randomly assigned a time slot for this exam and it is NOT subject to change.
H & P: Two write-ups are required to be turned in at the time of your exam. One on an obstetrical patient and one on a gynecological patient. The format will be as follows:

•a. Expanded OB history for OB patient
•b. Expanded pertinent GYN history for GYN patient
•2. Physical Examination
•3. Labs / Diagnostic Tests
•4. Assessment
•5. Plan
•6. Discussion
•a. 1 page discussion of topic relative to specific patient
PRESENTATIONS: Wednesday, October 10th from 3:00-6:00 PM
