University of Virginia Breast Care Center Benefits from Panera Bread,
Spreads Awareness Messages

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Sept. 26, 2006  - Sept. 30 and Oct. 7 are the dates to keep in mind as UVa Cancer Center's Breast Care Program invites you to join them in the Barracks Road Shopping Center in recognition of October Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

September 30: The Panera Pink Ribbon Bagel Kickoff

In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Panera Bread bakery-cafes throughout central and western Virginia will offer a special Pink Ribbon Bagel. Twenty-five cents from each sale of this tasty bagel will benefit the University of Virginia Breast Care Center.

The pink ribbon has become widely identified with support of breast cancer research, a sight that is recognized in central Virginia in part from the work of the University of Virginia Cancer Center.  Panera's pink ribbon bagels, baked fresh each day in all area Panera Bread bakery-cafes, feature cherry chips and real bits of Bing cherries and cranberries.

Panera Bread bakery-cafes in Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, Warrenton, Lynchburg and Roanoke will offer this limited-time-only bagel, through the end of October.

"We are so grateful for the continued support from our partner, Panera Bread, in the fight against breast cancer and the company's commitment to breast cancer research," says Linda Rose, director of UVa breast care services.

"Panera Bread is committed to serving the members of the local community, many of whom have had their lives touched by breast cancer," said Rick Postle, Panera Bread franchise owner. "We are honored to support the University of Virginia Breast Care Center."
