UVA HEALTH SYSTEM PHYSICIAN AMONG WORLD'S LEADING EXPERTS TO CONTRIBUTE TO BABY BOOK
Dr. Fern R. Hauck, associate professor of family medicine at the University of Virginia Health System joins this year's list of expert contributors to the book, The Experts' Guide To The Baby Years: 100 Things Every Parent Should Know created By Samantha Ettus. This places Hauck in the company of senators, members of congress, leading CEOs, celebrities, fashion executives, doctors and scientists selected to be contributors for past Experts' Guide books. Other Experts' Guide contributors include Donald Trump, Larry King, Suze Orman, Rachael Ray, Al Roker, and Jennifer Capriati.
Following the success of the bestselling The Experts' Guide to 100 Things Everyone Should Know How to Do and The Experts' Guide to Life at Home, as well as the birth of her own daughter, Samantha Ettus hand-selected 100 of the world's leading experts to help readers through the challenges that arise during the first two years of parenthood. The result: THE EXPERTS' GUIDE TO THE BABY YEARS: 100 Things Every Parent Should Know (Clarkson Potter; November 2006; $19.95; hardcover), a chronological all-in-one companion to raising a baby. The 100 bite-size, how-to chapters are each written by the leading experts in their fields.
Hauck was selected as the top choice to write the chapter on reducing the risk for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, an illness that can affect children under one year of age. In addition to conducting research, Hauck sits on the American Academy of Pediatrics Task Force on SIDS and helped write the latest recommendations on SIDS risk reduction.
