U.VA. HEALTH SYSTEM WEB SITE NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BY COMPUTER SCIENCES CORPORATION AND MODERN HEALTHCAREComputer Sciences Corporation (CSC) and Modern Healthcare magazine have presented the University of Virginia Health System and eight other healthcare organizations with the first ever Quest for the Best Healthcare Provider Web Site Awards.“We are extremely gratified that our efforts in building the U.Va. Health System Web site have been recognized for excellence among our peers,” said Cole Hendrix, Associate Vice President for Community Relations, U.Va. Health System. “We will continue to work to make the site a place where patients, employees and other audiences can turn for valuable information and functions.” Earlier this year, CSC and Modern Healthcare began a search for the best provider Web sites. Hospital systems, stand-alone hospitals and medical groups were invited to nominate their sites. CSC used its Provider Web Assessment Tool to screen the more than 100 Web sites that were nominated. A panel of judges, representing a cross section of the industry, reviewed the finalists’ sites and evaluated them on usability and clinical, administrative and consumer content and functions. The winners reflect where the future of healthcare and the Internet will be, said Arthur H. Spiegel, president of CSC's Healthcare Group. The possibilities are endless. And these provider sites point the way.” U.Va.’s site (www.hsc.virginia.edu), along with that of Yale-New Haven Hospital, New Haven, CT (www.ynhh.org), was a named a finalist in the Stand-Alone Hospital category.
