U.VA. BABYFEST FEATURES "ASK-THE-DOCTOR" INFO BOOTHParents and parents-to-be are invited to the University of Virginia BabyFest 2000, a free event on Saturday, June 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in Lee Park, off the downtown mall. Physicians from the U.Va. departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Family Medicine and the Children's Medical Center will provide information on topics such as:
Child car seat safety demonstrations will be held, and coupons for free car seats given to the first 50 attendees who register for car seat safety instruction. U.Va. staff will also provide information about: family wellness, breast feeding, fathering, prescription medications, smoking cessation, infant CPR, immunizations, domestic violence prevention and child care. Community service agencies and area businesses also will participate. Information will be provided in Spanish. BabyFest family fun activities include a Diaper Derby at 11 a.m., 12 noon and 1 p.m.; a used book drive to benefit Head Start families; and door prizes and give-aways. Refreshments will be available.
