CONCERT, PARTY AT U.VA. TO BENEFIT MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES FOR THE POOR

Musician Jack Donahue will sing jazz and pop standards, as well as some music from his new CD, Lighthouse, on Sunday, Feb. 10, at 8 p.m. in Old Cabell Hall at the University of Virginia. The benefit concert and following party are an effort to raise funds to provide mental health services to underserved community residents, and are presented by the U.Va. Health System, the Mental Health Association of Charlottesville-Albemarle, Region Ten and other community agencies.

Donahue, temporarily in Charlottesville from New York City, will perform with pianist Peter Eldridge.

Jack Donahue has that ineffable mix of talent and charisma that simply demands stardom, wrote reviewers Barbara and Scott Siegel for Entertainment Syndicate. Donahue doesn't sing notes, he sings stories; catch him now and you'll be able to say you saw him when.

Following the show, a gala CD release party at the Colonnade Club on the Lawn will admit fans who make a donation of $25 or more ($40 per couple) to the underserved care fund of the Mental Health Association. Party passes will be available at the concert. Sponsors include Crutchfield, Pfizer, Plan 9 and Forest Laboratories.
