VISITING PROFESSOR TO DISCUSS GERONTECHNOLOGY AT U.VA.

As the population ages, researchers are finding new ways to aid older Americans through technology. Some tout this movement as remarkable, while others question this invasion of technology into the daily lives of the elderly. The University of Virginia Health System has invited Neil Charness, professor of psychology at Florida State University, to discuss, Longevity and Technology Revolutions: Is Gerontechnology the Answer? This lecture will take place on Monday, June 11 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Camp Heart Auditorium on the fourth floor of the U.Va. hospital.

Charness will discuss the formation of the field of gerontechnology, which is the study of how technology can improve the quality of life for the elderly. He will share his results from research in this field.
