DETMERS DONATE ART TO HEALTH SCIENCES LIBRARY

Former University of Virginia Vice President and Provost for the Health Sciences, Dr. Don Detmer and his wife, Mary, have given two works of art to the Claude Moore Health Sciences Library. The gift was made this month in celebration of the couple's 40th wedding anniversary.

The donation is two collages by New Haven, Conn. artist Robert Reed, who was born in Charlottesville. The collages are entitled Commanding Lead and Hair Doctors. The collages are acrylic and oil marker on paper, with metal fasteners and electrostatic printing. The works are displayed in the library's Detmer Reading Room and are visible from the Link walkway.

Detmer is currently on the faculty at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom and has an appointment at U.Va. in the School of Medicine's Department of Health Evaluation Sciences. Mrs. Detmer serves on the library's Art Committee.
