SENIOR POLICY ADVISOR TO THE U.S. SURGEON GENERAL TO SPEAK AT U.VA. MEDICAL CENTERDr. Gregory Pappas, senior policy advisor to the U.S. Surgeon General, will discuss Eliminating Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities: Towards a National Plan, on Friday, September 29, from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in McLeod Hall, room 2014.Pappas will talk about the need for the American healthcare system to overcome years of ignoring racial and ethnic health disparities in order to provide better healthcare for all. His discussion is based on the Surgeon General's national prevention agenda, Healthy People 2010, that states the elimination of health disparities as part of its goals. Healthy People 2010 seeks to identify the most significant preventable threats to health and to establish national goals to reduce them.
