U.VA. CHILDREN'S REHAB CENTER CELEBRATES 43RD BIRTHDAY WITH ART RECEPTIONThe University of Virginia Health System Kluge Children's Rehabilitation Center (KCRC) will celebrate its 43rd birthday on Thursday October 12, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., with a reception and exhibition of paintings by acclaimed local artist Kacey Carneal. The event is open to the public.Carneal has been named artist-in-residence for KCRC thanks to a gift from an anonymous donor. Carneal, a folk artist who lives in Gloucester, Virginia, works in oil on wood or canvas and uses frames that are extensions of her paintings. Her work has been in juried shows in 52 cities, 23 states and the Netherlands since her career began in 1985. A number of Carneal's colorful and fanciful community scenes provide daily inspiration to patients at the U.Va. hospital's pediatrics floor and KCRC. September 28, 2000 |
