Neurosurgery Clinics

Each neurosurgeon at the University of Virginia Health System sees patients before and after surgery in outpatient clinics. Prior to surgery, the physician will see the patient and arrange tests to determine the appropriateness of surgery and to evaluate any alternative surgical options.

After the operation, patients come to the clinic to receive post-surgical follow-up. The neurosurgeons and staff work with the patient to evaluate progress and to make any medication and therapy adjustments.

Surgery to the brain and spinal column for any reason can require long-term follow-up to ensure continued physical improvement and stability. For this reason, the outpatient clinic is a critical component to a successful and optimal outcome.
