Education
B.A. University of Virginia, 1995
M.S. Virginia Tech, 2000
I received a B.A. degree in Biology from the University of Virginia in 1995. Following graduation, I worked as a technician for two Cell Biology Labs at UVA through 1998 and then attended the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech where I received my Master's degree in Veterinary Science. While in Blacksburg, I worked with porcine in vitro fertilization and embryo culture systems and gene transfer in the pig using intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).
I returned to Charlottesville in 2000 and accepted a position at the Center for Research in Contraceptive and Reproductive Health at UVA. There, I studied various sperm and egg antigens and was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the In Vitro Assay Core. In 2007, I took a position in the clinical field as an embryologist in a human embryology lab. I've happily returned to research science as a laboratory technician in the Holt/Géléoc lab and am excited to contribute to the group with the skills and experience I've acquired over the years. I currently am working with adenovirus production and purification and look forward to learning more about hair cells and electrophysiology.
