Meeting challenges
A diagnosis of a memory disorder can be a frightening and overwhelming experience. UVa's Memory Disorders Program is dedicated to helping people cope with challenges brought on by an impaired memory and related complications.

The Program was established in 1990 to provide comprehensive treatment of memory disorders through a multidisciplinary team of neurologists, neuropsychologists and neuroradiologists. We offer diagnostic services, treatment, support and education for patients and their families.

We treat a wide range of memory disorders, including but not limited to:

  • Alzheimer's disease
  • Age-related memory impairment
  • Other primary dementias:
  • Multi-infarct dementia
  • Dementia with Lewy bodies
  • Frontotemporal dementias
Total care
Our services range from consultation to ongoing treatment. We also offer
  • advanced neuro-imaging
  • comprehensive neuropsychological testing
  • social work and treatment of emotional difficulties and changes associated with memory loss.
Patient TestingMeeting special needs
Patients and families of patients faced with a memory disorder are often under a great deal of stress. We offer a broad range of special services to make your visit as comfortable as possible in a private and non-threatening atmosphere.
