Our 24-hour toll-free telephone number ( 1-800-552-3723 ) provides in-state and out-of-state health professionals with constant access to our physicians and other experts for referrals, consultations, and information. Patients may use a toll-free number ( 1-800-251-3627 ) to make appointments or reach their doctors' offices.

Each physician in the department can be phoned individually at his or her direct-dial number. These numbers are listed in the Faculty & Research section and can be accessed via the Navigation buttons. The department staff will take charge of scheduling appointments and initiating hospital admissions.

The Department of Neurology

The Department of Neurology provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the nervous system. In addition to treating general neurological problems, faculty members specialize in the following areas:
  • Critical Care Neurology
  • Stroke/Cerebrovascular Diseases
  • Alzheimer's Disease/Neurodegenerative Diseases
  • Epilepsy and Related Disorders
  • Multiple Sclerosis/Demyelinating Diseases
  • Myasthenia Gravis/Neuromuscular Diseases
  • Parkinson's Disease/Movement Disorders
  • Pediatric Neurology.

The Division of Pediatric Neurology

The Division of Pediatric Neurology offers both inpatient consultative services and outpatient clinics for children with the following conditions:
  • Epilepsy
  • Neuromuscular Disease
  • Metabolic Genetic Disorders
  • Developmental Delays
  • Behavior and Learning Problems
  • Movement Disorders including Spasticity
  • A range of other neurologic illnesses
The division staffs the following outpatient clinics:
  • The General Pediatric Neurology Clinic and Epilepsy Clinics
  • The Muscular Dystrophy Clinic at the Kluge Children's Rehabilitation Center
  • The Brain Tumor Clinic in the Department of Neurological Surgery
  • The Outreach clinics in southwestern Virginia and northeastern Tennessee
Pediatric neurologists provide consultations to the following services:
  • The Pediatric Inpatient Services
  • The Newborn Intensive Care Unit
  • The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
  • The Kluge Children's Rehabilitation Center
