My research interests have been in the areas of access to transplantation, allocation issues in kidney transplantation, outcomes after transplantation with a particular interest in delayed graft function and chronic allograft nephropathy, and, more recently, issues surrounding minority access and outcomes after transplantation. In the near future, I hope to embark on a protocol biopsy study comparing African-Americans to Caucasian recipients to try to determine if subclinical rejection or other markers for acute and chronic inflammation are more common in African-Americans which may be a contributing factor to their poorer long-term outcomes.
