Who is the program designed for?

It is appropriate for physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals. The content has a multidisciplinary focus on patient needs which are usually to be met by a team of  providers. Participating institutions may include public health departments, private obstetrical, family practice and pediatric offices, home health agencies, and clinics.

What is the format of OPEP?

OPEP is composed of self-instructional modules which are supplemented by skill sessions, videotapes, speakers, and discussion groups. Regional coordinators offer the program to area practitioners and organize the hands-on experiences. Individuals can also purchase books for self study. The books are written to be practical guides to perinatal care, using accepted national standards.
