Electronic Discussion Groups
Electronic discussion groups are email-based discussion groups organized around particular interests. When you subscribe to a group by following the instructions below, you will receive messages from all other groups members; all messages sent to the group address will be forwareded to all subscribers. Subscription to groups is free, and you may unsubscribe any time you wish. Members of some groups may receive up to 30 messages per day; other groups experience much lighter traffic.
Instructions: Note whether the address of the list you'd like to join has the word "listserv" or the word "majordomo", and then send an email to that address following the appropriate instruction below.

Ataxia Support
The International Network of Ataxia Friends (INTERNAF) mailing list. The West Syndrome (Infantile Spasms) Support
Group has a home page. The Group was formed in the UK and was formed by parents of children with West Syndrome/Infantile Spasms. MDFA is committed to individuals affected by mitochondrial disorders, as well as their families and friends, in order to overcome or mitigate the problems associated with the disorder, and responds to the needs of individuals and caregivers by providing support and information, and by assuring these persons that there are others "out there" who are going through similar experiences. MDFA assists persons affected with the disorder to secure support, treatment, education, information, and other services, serves as a national clearing house, promotes the sharing and dissemination of information, works with public health agencies and educational organizations in promoting education about the disorder, and raises funds for medical research. MDFA has established, "Project AKIN", a data base matching program to connect parents or patients with persons experiencing similar clinical symptoms. Begining in January of 1996 they will be publishing a newsletter Nitro News, twice a year, and they have a brochure available now. They will also refer individuals to other resources.
