Student Medical Education Committee (SMEC)

  5 Positions 

The Student Medical Education Committee (SMEC) Representative (5) shall:

  • Be open to one rising 4th year student elected in the spring, two rising 3rd year students elected in the spring, one rising 2nd year student elected in the spring, and one 1st year representative elected in the fall.  
  • Serve as expert opinions to the Mulholland Society regarding Curriculum matters. 
  • Ensure two representatives attend the Mulholland Council meeting (typically the 4th year Chair representing clinical sciences and the 2nd year representing basic sciences). 
  • Be Chaired by the 4th year student whose additional roles include serving on the Clinical Medicine Committee (Chaired by Dr. Wilson), appointing two representatives (usually the 1st and 2nd year SMEC representatives) to the Principles of Medicine Committee (Chaired by Dr. Bloodgood), and both attend and appoint one other representative (usually the 2nd year SMEC representative) to the Curriculum Committee (Chaired by Dr. Innes). 
  • Be governed by the SMEC constitution
