VICE PRESIDENT
One Position

Third Year of Medical School is very different from the basic science years because the entire class is scattered throughout Virginia.  As a class officer, one of the main duties is to keep everyone informed about events and class activities that are sponsored by the School of Medicine.  Specifically, the duties of VP include the following:
  • Planning and moderating career day (during 3rd year orientation) with Dr. Claudette Dalton.  This is one of the first tasks of this position and most of the work is done during the VP's spring semester of 2nd year.
  • Attending monthly Mulholland meetings to represent the class and work on school-wide issues.
  • Representing the class on SMEC (student medical education committee) and any other committees the President or VP deem appropriate.
  • Working with Clinical Connections organizers Reid Adams and Allison Innes to continually improve the program.
  • Planning class functions, fundraisers, etc with the other class officers.

TRESURER / SECRETARY
One Position

The 3rd year class treasurer/secretary is in charge of keeping the class bank account in order, dispersing funds where appropriate and monitoring the class budget to determine the class's ability to contribute to community service projects, class/school social events, etc. This position also requires working with other class officers to come up with ideas for a class gift which will be presented to the school of medicine upon our graduation. The position is enjoyable and is a great way to stay involved in class activities and the medical school even though we are all over the place during third year.

SOCIAL CHAIR
Two Positions

The 3rd year social chair position basically entails getting your class together anytime everyone is in town. You just set-up parties/bar nights for all the clinical connection weekends that happen throughout the year (about 6 of them.) Otherwise there isn't a whole lot else you are responsible for, but you have to make sure all the stuff you plan is fun because your class rarely will get together during the 3rd year.
