The Interview Process - We do most of our interviews during designated two-day visits on Thursdays and Fridays. One day interviews occur at other times as needed. MSTP interview dates cover both the Medical Scientist Training Program and the Medical School interviews. We generally invite about 48 applicants to interview. If you are invited for an interview, your first contact from us will be an email to set up a phone conversation. We will work with you to find a visit that works for your schedule. We pay for Wednesday and Thursday nights in nearby accommodations and other expenses during your visit, and we provide a travel allowance towards your travel expenses. The first event of the visit is Wednesday night dinner, and we wrap up at 2:30 or 3:15 pm on Friday, depending on your interview schedule.

The Interview - UVa MSTP interviews take two days. Thursday starts with a comprehensive presentation over breakfast by the MSTP Director, Dr. Gary Owens, and a chance to introduce yourself and meet the other applicants on the visit. Following the presentation, applicants begin their Medical School interview day with a brief introduction by the Medical School Admissions Office and a lunch at the faculty club and a campus tour. Late Thursday afternoon, you will have two interviews, one with a director or executive committee member of UVa MSTP and one with a current MSTP student. Thursday night, applicants and current students head downtown for the evening.
