Background

Dr. Bennett comes to UVa from San Francisco State University where he was a Lecturer in the Department of Kinesiology. There his research focused on the study of human movement from a dynamical systems perspective. Prior to this his research work was in computational fluid dynamics at NASA Ames Research Center.

Interests

Dr. Bennett's research interests center on how the dynamics of the human system influence its organization and performance of movement tasks. Specifically he is studying how the requirements of spinal stability and scoliosis affect movements of the trunk. He is also interested in complementy movement therapies and Tai Chi. He has taught Tai Chi for more than 10 years and organizes and teaches at annual workshops in California.
