Two full-time Electron Microscopy Technologists (Microscopy Society of America) and an EM technician are available to provide services and assist you with instrument use. All services, training, and instrument usage are billed at an hourly rate (see below). 

Facility Services:

 A comprehensive SERVICE and USER facility:
  • Bring your specimens and the Facility staff will do all of the work for you

          -OR-

  • The Facility staff will assist you in specimen preparation and train you in use of the equipment.
 We provide:
  • Transmission Electron Microscopy
  • Scanning Electron Microscopy
  • Immunocytochemistry
  • Negative Staining
  • Confocal Microscopy
  • individual training on all equipment
  • Technical assistance with special applications such as immunocytochemistry, autoradiography, negative staining, and more.  We are happy to discuss your special needs with you.

*Prices listed are for University Of Virginia clients.  The rates showns above are increased by 51.5% for all clients outside of the University Of Virginia. 

** Unlimited Microscope Usage:  $1250/month for unlimited use on any combination of microscopes (effective hourly rate = $24 or less after exceeding 42 hours).
