Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program(s) Research Description Fungal pathogenesis. Fungal surface proteins and hydrophobicity. My laboratory is concerned with the biochemistry and molecular biology of surface hydrophobic protein expression of medically important fungi, especially Candida. We are also interested in characterizing the role and regulation of surface protein glycosylation as it affects surface hydrophobins (hydrophobic adhesins) interactions with host and prosthetic surfaces. The role of surface hydrophobic proteins in tissue specific adhesion by Candida sp. is also under investigation. Biochemical, molecular genetics, biophysical and histological methods are used in our studies. Selected Publications Intranet Profile
