Heartsaver First Aid (HSFA) is an evidence-based first aid course for lay rescuers. The course consists of mandatory “Core” content that can be combined with any of several optional components.

Medical Emergencies (breathing problems, heart attacks, fainting, low blood sugar, seizures, stroke, allergic reactions, and shock)

Injuries (visible bleeding, wounds, head/neck and spine injuries, sprains, broken bones, joint injuries, burns and electrocution)

The Core Content covers:
- General principles of First Aid
- Medical Emergencies (breathing problems, low blood sugar, seizures, and shock)

- Environmental Emergencies (bites and stings, temperature-related emergencies, poisonings)
