Introduction
LEO is free a service available to Health System staff and faculty to request items at other UVa Libraries. The turnaround time is two to four business days. All materials delivered by LEO for Health System users are made available for checkout at the Health System Library’s Circulation Desk. You will be notified when the item has been received.
Step-By-Step
- On the Library’s Home page, locate the Core Resources heading in the middle of the page, then click Library Catalog (Virgo).
- In the Basic Search box in the Search for blank, enter the book title or journal name you would like to request.
- Under Search Type, select Begins with. . . .
- To start the search, click Title (for books) or Journal Title (for journals).
- In the top menu of the brief-record display screen, click Request, then Health Sciences Delivery in the sub menu.

- On the following screen, click on Leo Delivery for Health Sciences.
- A request form to fill out will appear next. In the University ID Number box, enter your Social Security number.
- If you are requesting a book, the form will appear blank but Virgo will automatically add the required information.
- If you are requesting a journal article, add such information as the title of the article, authors, volumes and pages. If you would like to request an electronic copy of the article, under Delivery Method, select Electronic.

- Click Send at the bottom of the page. You will be notified by the Circulation Desk when the item has been received at the Health Sciences Library.
A brief-record display of the book or journal will result. If more than one item matches your search, click on the item to see the brief-record display for that item.
