Library Renovation Plans
You’ve asked for more study space, and we’re answering your call! By Fall 2006, we will add six additional technology-enhanced group study rooms to our first floor Learning Resources Center. This will make a total of 13 rooms to help with your need for quiet and group study space! In addition, the Library’s first floor will also be the new home of the School of Medicine Educational Technology Group.
Renovation will begin in February 2006 and is scheduled for completion in August. During renovation, use of some library spaces will be limited to accommodate construction. From February 1st to August 30th, room reservations will be taken as follows:
- Rooms 101-105: CLOSED
- Room 106 & the Tolleson Classroom: Book 1-7 days in advance due to construction noise.
- Carter Classroom: No change. Must reserve three months in advance.
- Rooms 201 & 202: No change. Must make reservation 1-7 days for study space and must get LRC approval for longer/repeating reservations three months in advance .
Priorities for room use are as usual:
- Library classes/events
- Educational/academic for Health Sciences
- Other Health Sciences events
- Other UVa events
For construction updates and more, check out the Library’s Renovation page. For questions about room reservations, please contact the LRC desk at 924-5521, or Ellen Ramsey at 924-9962 or ellen@virginia.edu.
