Stacks Maintenance
During times of peak activity, around 1,000 items are re-shelved per day.
Circulation is responsible for reshelving all materials used in the Library, except for those in Historical Collections. We ask that patrons not reshelve their own materials. Circulation electronically scans all used items to gather statistics on which titles are used and how often. This process is done between picking up and reshelving.
As time and staffing permits, Circulation staff check the shelves for accuracy in order both for journals and for monographs. However, mistakes are made sometimes, so if you can’t find something where it should be on the shelf, let us know. We will search for the item and either find it and hold it for you, or offer a complimentary Interlibrary Loan where applicable (see our Placing a "Locate" on Library Materials for details).
