Phase 4: September–February 2001
In Phase 4, the north side of the Second floor (the Journal Room) will be renovated. When complete, we will have a beautiful new semi-circular reading room with natural light and elegant furnishings, three additional reading areas, individual study carrels, two more small group study rooms, a revised journal stack layout and new photocopy room. New carpeting, lighting, and heating and air conditioning will complete the transformation.
What Happened in Feburary
- Cabell Room closed for renovation. See Circulation Staff for access to older journals
- February 6: New space open!
- February 1–5: Move books to First Floor
What Happened in January
- January 24–31: Move journals back to Second Floor (they will be inaccessible during this time — use online versions or request free ILL); furniture installed
- January 22: Begin shelving installation
- Signage installed
- Carpeting installed
- Painting and finishing
- Lights installed

- Complete drywall work; windows
- Network wiring
- Relocation of firedoors in LINK

- Cabell elevator under repair

- September 25: Begin demolition
- September 11–22: Vacate Journal Room; construction barrier installed in LINK.
