Phase 2: December 1999–April 2000
When Phase 2 is complete, the first floor of the Library will be transformed. The computer lab will be extended, a new service desk built and the two classrooms updated. Two new reading areas with comfortable seating will face the windows on both the east and west sides of the Library, and several group study rooms will be created. New carpeting, wallcovering, heating and air conditioning, and lighting will complete the renovation.
The major impact to you will be noise while you are working on the Ssecond Floor, which is where the computer lab is temporarily relocated. Please ask us for earplugs if necessary. In addition, the book collection has been moved to the Cabell Room. Towards the end of the phase we will also be making preparations to vacate part of the second floor for its renovation in Phase 3a, causing additional relocations.
