Timeline and Phasing Plan: What Happens When?

  • Phase 1: Weed older journal collection and book collection (Summer 2005-Spring 2006)
  • Phase 2: Shift journals to create more study space in the 2nd floor journal room (Fall 2005)
  • Phase 3: Build 13 additional group study rooms and the offices of the School of Medicine’s Educational Technology staff on first floor (February-August 2006)

Renovation Updates

July 3, 2006

  • The study area at the back of the journal room will be closed for renovation. As a result, the Cabell room will be closed beginning July 5th. If you need journals or books that are located in Cabell, request the items at the Circulation Desk and a staff memeber will get them for you.

May 9, 2006

  • As part of the current renovation, the 24-hour study area will be expanded to include: quiet study space, group study space, and additional computing. The new area will be nearly five times the size of the existing space. Renovation will begin in July and is scheduled for completion in August. March 1, 2006

  • Construction is about to begin on the new group teaching rooms planned for downstairs in the Learning Resources Center. To control noise and dust, temporary walls and fill-ins for the openings will be built. You will also notice a large dumpster outside the Library on the Lane Road side. Daniels and Company was recently issued the contract, and Moore Electrical the subcontract, for the lighting and mechanical part of our renovation.

February 9, 2006

  • Construction of 13 group study rooms and the Medical Education Offices will begin February 28th.

January 16, 2006

  • The book shelves have been removed from the First Floor in preparation for the construction of the new group study rooms.

January 13, 2006

  • The book move is complete. All books are now located in the Cabell Room.

January 9, 2006

  • Books are being relocated to the Cabell Room starting today.

September 30, 2005

  • Cabell reopened.

July 25, 2005

  • Cabell temporarily closes today. Scheduled to reopen October 2nd.
  • Weeding of older journals in Cabell begins.

July 24, 2005

  • Journal shift completed in 2nd floor journal room.

June 20, 2005

  • Shifting of journals in 2nd floor journal room begins.
