MORE U.VA. DOCTORS ON THIS YEAR’S LIST OF AMERICA'S TOP DOCTORS
This year, three doctors from the University of Virginia Health System were added to the list of America’s Top Doctors, bringing the total number of U.Va. physicians on the list to 48. Published annually by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., the book recognizes physicians who are considered among the best in their specialties in both patient care and research.
To be published in the book, and receive the award, doctors must be nominated by their peers. According to the Castle Connolly research team, more than 250,000 doctors were surveyed by mail and were asked to nominate the top people in their specialties and in related specialties, especially those to whom they would refer their own patients.
An extensive biographical form was sent to each of those nominated physicians and telephone interviews were conducted, primarily with leaders in medical specialties and leading physicians at major medical centers. Additional research was conducted in the areas of disciplinary and license histories.
The book is designed to help people find the right specialists locally, regionally or nationally.
The U.Va. doctors designated as America's top doctors by specialty are:
