UVa is one of only a few academic medical centers in the United States where the "Health System" of patient care facilities and the professional education schools reside within the grounds of the parent University. At UVa, it is possible to see Jefferson's "Academical Village", the Rotunda and lawns, and much of the main university from vantage points in the upper levels of the University Hospital.

Take a Walk on the "Other Side"

Medical Center staff can easily walk to the University grounds and this offers many opportunities for involvement in the wider academic, cultural and social life of the University. Just a few examples:

The historic Academical Village remains vibrant with modern daily life. The Pavilion Gardens beyond the lawns are open to the public and offer inviting spots for a quick break.
		The Aquatic & Fitness Center is one of many top-notch athletic facilities available for intramural sports and personal recreation. Equipment rental for kayaking, camping and other outdoor activities is also available.
COME BE A HOO ! The new Carl Smith Center and John Paul Jones Arena are home to Virginia Athletics. Discounted tickets are available for Virginia Cavaliers games.
