The goal of subspecialty training at the University of Virginia is to provide trainees with the tools needed to excel in the challenges of research, clinical care, and teaching inherent in careers in academic medicine or private practice. Upon program completion, our fellows are expected to represent the best in clinical acumen, patient care, research initiative, and professionalism.
The Department of Medicine provides oversight of programs' compliance with the requirements of the ACGME, the ABIM, and the Graduate Medical Education Committee of the University of Virginia.
