CIIC Service Request

Everyone must complete a service request form for CIIC services.  We prefer that requests come via the following online form or by the PDF form.

UVA researchers requesting services that require animal transport to Fontaine Research Park and protocol transfer to ACUC Protocol 3522, please complete the ACUC Animal Transfer & ACUC Protocol Transfer form (available in Word & PDF).  Instructions for animal transport can be found on the form or at UVA Comparative Medicine website.

 Animal Information



Animal orders are placed following the UVA Center for Comparative Medicine (CCM) schedule. Animals orders MUST be placed AT LEAST ONE WEEK prior to requested date of service.  Animal deliveries may take longer than 1 week depending on CCM delivery schedule.  For more information please check the CCM website.

Histological/Tissue Preparation 


The DERC Cell & Islet core facility is able to procure tissue samples in preparation for histological staining protein, or RNA isolation in 4 ways:

  1. Submerse tissue in 4% PFA.
  2. Heart puncture and perfusion of animal with PBS followed by 4% PFA.
  3. Tissue frozen in liquid nitrogen after being placed in a conical tube, foil, or OCT freezing compound.
  4. RNALater or RNA denaturing solution provided by the customer.
