Mandatory Training Requirements
New Housestaff
All new housestaff are required to complete a set of mandatory training modules before beginning employment. Access to the NetLearning web site and instructions are provided to incoming housestaff by the GME Office. Transcripts are collected at New Housestaff Orientation. Modules for 2008-2009 are:
- Standard Precautions/Infection Control Orientation
- Safety - Part 1 | Safety - Part 2
- Security Training and Awareness
- General Compliance (completed during New Housestaff Orientation)
- Abuse and Neglect: Prevention and Investigation
- Advanced Concepts in Confidentiality and HIPAA Privacy Regulations
- Boundary Training: Keeping Boundaries with Patients
- CareCast 1: Fundamentals | 2: Document Display | 3: Flow Chart Viewer
- Chemical Safety Training (Hazard Communication)
- End of Life Care & Decision Making
- Pain Management for Physicians & Credentialed Staff (all medical and dental housestaff except Pathology)
- Physician Guide to Adult Acute Care Insulin Infusion Guideline and Protocol (see specific guidelines below)
- Procedural Sedation at the UVa Medical Center (see specific guidelines below)
Housestaff Reappointment
As part of the reappointment process, housestaff must have completed the following mandatory training during the preceding appointment period:
- Bloodborne Pathogen and Infection Control Retraining
- Medical Center Compliance, Privacy, and Security Retraining
- Quality and Safety Retraining
Specialized Training
Medical and Dental housestaff are required to complete on-line training for Procedural Sedation and/or Acute Care Insulin Infusion as indicated below:
