Pandora's Box

by

Emily Jones

Emily's quilt, Pandora's Box, was inspired by a project for her Latin class. It didn't seem as if the quilt was going to be finished in time for this year's show, but after several trips back and forth "over the mountain", Emily placed her finishing touches on the quilt the day before the show. According to the myth, Pandora was told to never, ever open the box. Unfortunately, curiosity won over good judgement, and Pandora opened the box and released "the ills of the world". Quick to see her mistake, Pandora hastily closed the lid. Left alone in the bottom of the box is what we all live to hold; when there is nothing left, there is always "hope".
